Singapore, Day One

A long flight but well worth the journey!

Some of you will know that I recently visited Singapore, it was a quick trip but I had a great time and got to experience some amazing things.

I like to stay cool when flying so I traveled in light weight navy chinos which I turned up a little at the ankle. I paired these with a light blue cotton shirt. I also wore a navy linen blazer and pulled the sleeves up to the elbow to give a more relaxed smart look. Comfortable shoes are essential when travelling so I wore my Ralph Lauren boat shoes.

My journey started in the comforts of the Emirates Lounge in Manchester airport. Wow – what a place to relax before a flight! With plenty of delicious food on offer and a bar stocked with premium spirits and Veuve Clicquot champagne (which you help yourself to!) it really relaxed me for the long flight ahead.

I flew on the massive Airbus A380 – jeepers it’s a big plane. The whole upper deck is Business Class – pure luxury. Having your own pod really does make a difference on such a long journey. You also get a large screen to watch the in-flight entertainment on. Emirates ‘ICE’ entertainment system is the best I’ve experienced. It has a huge selection of the latest movies and TV shows. But if you fancy a classic like ‘Gone with the Wind’ you can gorge on lots of old movies too!

My flight got me in to Singapore at around 22:00 local time so it was too late to explore the city but I quickly settled into where I was staying. My first hotel was the Equarius Hotel on Sentosa. It’s a beautiful luxury spa hotel located close to Universal Studios with fantastic views of the city. Here’s what my room was like:

That’s all for day one. Look out for my next post to see what I got up to on my first full day in Singapore.

Thanks for reading.

  • Hotel looks lush! I’ve always wanted to visit Singapore but the flight puts me off.

    • It was lush! It’s surprising how relaxed and secluded it felt considering how close it is to Universal and the surrounding shops and restaurants. If you break the flight up with a stopover in Dubai like I did it’s not so bad. Thanks for visiting Tara!

  • I would so love to go to Singapore, my husband has been and loved it. I can’t wait to read about your adventures. I’ve flown with Emirates once and they were fantastic.

    • I really do recommend Singapore as a must see destination. It’s such a vibrant and exciting place and is so rich in culture. I think Emirates is my favourite airline – they’re just great! Thanks for stopping by Mellissa!
